Yvoire is a Medieval Village with a Huge Charm Factor

We scheduled one of our sight seeing day this week on a rain day and headed our to the medieval town of Yvoire. Located on the French side of Lake Geneva (or as the French call it Lac Leman) it was about an hour's drive from our place in Combloux. We were blown away by the beauty and charm of this colorful little village.

Turns out we were lucky to visit Yvoire on a rain day as it is a very popular tourist spot with over a million visitors each year. On this day we were able to stroll its cobblestone streets with a relatively small crowd and admire the incredible architecture of the village.

There are many shops and upscale restaurants in the village. There are also several shops the hand blow and sell their own glass creations. You can also find a number of are galleries in the village.

Yvoire is worth a half day visit if you are into medieval architecture. Get there mid-morning to explore and stay for lunch at one of the restaurants that has a lake view.

Yvoire is located on the French side of Lake Geneva and is an hour's drive from Combloux and Geneva. It also has scheduled ferry service to other lake side towns or you can stop there as part of the half day ferry tours that are available for visitors to Lake Geneva.
