When you do the research on an area for places to go sometimes you get it right and sometimes you flop. And every so often you fall in love with a place that keeps calling you back. Gordes is one of those places.

We have found ourselves back at Gordes several times. Whether it is sightseeing, making the village part of a hiking route, having a great dinner, or taking a spa day at Spa Luberon located in the Mas de la Senancole Hotel.

The history of Gordes goes way back to the Roman empire and there is much to read about its history. It is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and is a member of the Les Plus Beax Villages France (Travel & Leisure listed it as the most beautiful village in the world). The stone homes on the outskirts are simply stunning, most are second homes of the wealthy from Paris and the UK.

If Provence is on your travel list make sure you put Gordes on your list of places to visit. You will fall in love.

Gordes is located in the edge of the Luberon Regional National Park and is less than an hour away from Avignon.
