"L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue: A Great Hub for Exploring Provence

When we were planning our two weeks in Provence the big question was where do we stay? There are so many great choices; the bigger cities of Aix, Avignon, Arles or the smaller villages of Gordes & St. Remy. Eventually we settled on L'Isle-sur-la Sorgue. We had never heard of it before starting our research but it sounded unique and the town checked so many boxes. It was central to everything we wanted to see (and we saw quite a bit), travels to other villages or cities were thirty minutes to one hour maximum.

The old town center was beautiful and well preserved with several canals running through the middle. The markets were incredible, great food and a weekly antique market (the second biggest antique market in France after Paris). The area was also very close to some wonderful hiking in the Luberon Regional Nature Park as well as several other Nature Parks in the area.

We stayed in the old town center and it did not disappoint. Our third floor flat which we

rented on Aribnb had a great outdoor deck that overlooked the cathedral and the old rooftops, a great place for dinner on the nights we ate in. Make sure you get a rental with air conditioning and parking as the summers do get hot and a parking space is clutch if you are going to stay in the old town.

There was a large variety of restaurants to choose from and plenty of shops to get your cheese & bread. If you are cooking there is a large Super U market near old town that has everything. I highly recommend having a glass of rose in L'Isle de Leos Hotel & Spa. They have a commanding bar area and they serve rose from their winery. I am not normally a rose drinker but their wine is outstanding!

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the perfect place to come home to and enjoy after a day of hiking and exploring the many wonderful places that Provence has to offer.

L'Isle-sur-la Sorgue is located about an hours from the Marseille airport and a thirty minute drive from Aix or Avignon.
