Back in the summer of 2021, in the throes of Covid-19, Michelle and I had planned an international trip and were crossing our fingers that Europe would open up for travel for the U.S. Ten days before our scheduled departure date Europe gave the green light to travel and we were lucky enough to get out to the Alps for some hiking.
Our first stop on that trip was the French Alps and Chamonix. While there we found a fantastic restaurant, Panier des 4 Saison. The food ingredients were incredibly fresh and the food was excellent. Fast forward to 2026 we were excited to try it again since Chamonix is a quick, scenic thirty five minute drive from our homebase in Combloux.
Our return visit was not a disappointment, Same crew, same Chef and the flavorful dinner was as we remembered it.

We started out with a small plate of escargot, they were cooked perfectly, followed by a simple summer greens salad with tomatoes & radishes and a light salmon tartar.

Our main courses did not disappoint; a grilled salmon steak with sweet chili beurre blanc as well as a sea bass fillet & scallops with a lemon and ginger emulsion.

We finished off our dinner with a delightful warm dark chocolate souffle with lime sorbet and a couple of cappuccinos.
Panier des 4 Saisons was just as we remembered it, a warm, comfortable place to have a tasty French dinner with a laid back mountain vibe. With more than twenty years in business they are the go to spot in Chamonix.
Panier des 4 Saisons is located in Chamonix in the French Alps, about an hour's drive from Geneva, Switzerland. They are open for dinner six nights a week and closed on Tuesday.
