Brasserie Lipp in Old Town Geneva

Whenever we stop in Geneva there are two go to restaurants; Les Armures if we want a traditional Swiss meal or Cafe Lipp Geneva if we are hungry. Cafe Lipp has three locations; Paris, Zurich and Geneva. The Geneva location is by far the best.

Our recent dinner there stood out as one of the best we have had on our trip thus far. The saucier and partissiere were on top of their game. It was one of those meals where the meal at hand was all we spoke about with glowing admiration and the occasional groan. The carte:

-Bol De Salade Lipp (petit)

-Tartare De Thone Albarcore (entree)

-Filet De Truite Rose Roti Sur Peau (Beurre Meuniere aux Amandes Efilees)

-Aiguilette De Magert De Canard (Roties Sauce Au Poivre Vert Legrement Cremee)

-Profiteroles A La Glace Vanille

A simple Vegetable Salad with Egg and French Dressing

Albacore Tuna Tartar with Mango & Basil

Trout with a Buerre Blanc Sauce and Risotto & Pea Pods

Duck Breast with a Green Peppercorn Sauce

Profiteroles with Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream & Warm Chocolate Sauce

The menu at Lipp is extensive as a traditional brasserie should be. It has a combination of French favorites as well as menu items for the Swiss food purists. If you can't find something on the menu at Lipp you probably shouldn't be there...

Brasserie Lipp is located up the hill in Old Town Geneva's shopping district. If you are there in the summer make a reservation and request to sit outside to enjoy a Geneva alfresco experience.
